Ana Popescu
Visual artist and illustrator
Ana Popescu is a visual artist and illustrator working mainly with drawing and colours on paper. Born in Romania, Popescu grew up in France and is now based in Vienna. She studied printmaking and drawing under Professor Jan Svenungsson at the University of Applied Arts, receiving her Masters of Fine Arts Vienna in 2013. Her work mainly deals with the theme of space and the relation between the inside and outside. The use of exaggerated colors, distorted perspectives, and the emptiness of living spaces and their surroundings make the work distance itself from a known reality to depict a new one. Her work is greatly inspired by architecture and its relation to light. Recently she has exhibited her work in New York, Tokyo, Shanghai, Ljubljana, and Bergen, and at the Griffin Gallery in London and Haus Wittgenstein in Vienna. Her clients include Rimowa, Tylko, Zeit Magazin, Canal+, Architectural Digest and Frieze NY.
This piece depicts a get-together represented by the swimming rings in the pool. Diversity and communication is the main theme of these two paintings, each swimming ring has its own colour and adds something original to the whole.

These paintings represent the relation between the inside and the outside. The inside can be seen as the individual interior world and the outside as the world in general. This piece is about the connection between each individual using Google Meet and the ouside world with which it communicates. In the outside world, here represented by the pool, many different people come together to share ideas.
This illustration is again about diversity and communication. It represents many different types and colours of vases coming together. The Shade from the foliage shows that the vases are out in the open. The vases should represent people, ideas, connections and everything that is brought together by Google Meet.
